KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27, 2025 – Magnum, one of the world’s most recognisable premium ice-cream brands, has taken a major step toward becoming an independent global company after successfully raising €3 billion (about RM15.4 billion) through a multi-tranche bond issuance. The move comes just days before its long-planned separation from Unilever is finalised.

According to Reuters, the bond offering was oversubscribed seven times, reflecting strong investor confidence in Magnum’s standalone potential as a pure-play ice-cream and frozen dessert leader. The financing package consists of four separate €750 million tranches, with maturities ranging from 2029 to 2037 and interest rates between 2.75% and 4%.

The capital raised will support Magnum’s corporate operations and provide financial stability as the company transitions away from Unilever. The official demerger is scheduled for 6 December 2025, followed by a public listing on Euronext Amsterdam on 8 December 2025 a milestone that will mark Magnum’s debut as a fully independent entity in the global consumer market.

Unilever, which has been restructuring its broad portfolio, announced in early 2024 that it would spin off its ice-cream division to sharpen focus on key business segments. Besides Magnum, the portfolio also includes well-known names like Wall’s, Cornetto, Ben & Jerry’s and Breyers. Analysts say the separation will allow both Unilever and the newly independent Magnum group to pursue more targeted and agile growth strategies.

Industry experts believe the overwhelming investor interest signals positive expectations for premium ice-cream demand, especially in Asia, where the category continues to expand. For Malaysia and the wider region, Magnum’s new corporate independence could pave the way for accelerated product innovation, new market investment and more strategic brand initiatives.

With its spin-off nearing completion, Magnum is preparing to navigate the global ice-cream industry with renewed focus bringing fresh dynamism to a category long dominated by giants but increasingly driven by innovation, indulgence and consumer experience.
